Please help us to write a happy ending for a needy cat or two!
Only you can show them what it is to have a loving, secure "forever home"...
Niles
This is Niles. Niles came to PAWS in September 2001.
He is about 4 years old and most of his life has been spent at PAWS. He is the longest resident here at PAWS; having been passed over repeatedly because he is a little shy and one eye does not work as well as the other.
He has come to trust us and loves to have a good chin scratch and body rub..... The only thing that is a little worrisome for Niles is being held.
He is a good sweet boy and deserves to have a family of his own.
Abraham Lincoln
This is Abraham Lincoln. We guess him to be about 14 years old.
He qualifies for PAWS
"ELDER CARE"
program; where an animal 10 yrs or older goes into permanent foster care. The animal legally still belongs to PAWS. We will in turn will be responsible for making the medical decisions for the animal and assume financial responsibility for those decisions.
He is a nice and honest old guy. He will tell you truthfully that he doesn't get enough canned food... Do you believe him??
Richard Harris
This Flame Point Siamese’s name is Richard Harris. He is about 7 yrs old.
When he came to paws he was badly wounded and skinny. He thrived on the loving care in foster care and returned to us as a much different cat.
He is full of lots of sugar and just a dash of vinegar. He would love to be carried wherever he goes and does not shy away from standing guard over the food dish. No doubt he remembers too many days of going hungry.
He will be forever grateful and love the humans who give him a home and want to love him back.
Jodi Foster
Jodi Foster was about 8 months old when her family moved out of a house that was scheduled for demolition and left Jodi behind.
A neighbor who knew that the houses were coming down at any time called PAWS for help. Jodi Foster’s frightened eyes lit up in the light from our flashlights as she huddled in the abandoned house... She was so scared! We had to tempt her with food and then grab her when she came close. I have never heard a cat purr as loudly as Jodi has as she settled into her foster home that night. It was the first time in days she had been safe and warm; and not a moment too soon. At 8 am the next morning, the bulldozers showed up at Jodi's house and pushed it down.
Jodi is a sweet and polite adult now. She loves to be held and spends most of her days working hard at her job of holding down the furniture at PAWS.
Warren Beatty
This is Warren Beatty. He is about 3 years old and came to PAWS as a very sick feral kitten.
He has since lost most of his feral ways but is still a little shy and prefers to be petted and loved as he sits next to you instead of being held close.
He longs to have a home of his own with a family who will love him for who he is.
Paloma Picasso
This fluffy white cat is Paloma Picasso. She is aprox. 3 years old. Paloma was left in a box at the Clackamas County Dog Control when she was about 4 months old. Paloma was very much the fraidy cat when we got her and has retained some of those instincts not to trust humans. If we are slow, quiet and gentle we can slide up next to her favorite bed and stroke her beautiful coat...she loves the attention when she gets it, but is coy and plays hard-to-get every time we try to get close. She is one of the most gorgeous cats I have ever seen.
Barbara Walters
This is Barbara Walters.
Barbara is about 3 years old.
She came from the woman who had so many cats she didn't know what to do.
She is a sweetie pie who loves to be held and cuddled like a baby.
Twiggy
The black cat with missing patches is Twiggy. She is aprox. 7 years old.
When Twiggy came to PAWS she was little more than a skeleton with fur stretched over it. The veterinarian who initially saw Twiggy and ran blood tests found that there was nothing wrong with her physically – she was literally starving to death.
Lucky for her, a kind woman saw her and brought her to PAWS. She is slowly starting to put some weight back on and plays with the kittens between naps. She tries very hard to get the love and attention she has been deprived of for so long.
Twiggy may be the "ugly duckling" now, but will soon be the beautiful swan.
Kevin Costner
This is Kevin Costner.
Kevin is 8 yrs old and has been declawed.
Kevin Costner is happiest when he is outside meeting and greeting everyone on the street. Kevin loves everyone but prefers dogs to cats, although he does tolerate cats.
He is as sweet as sugar when he is doing as he pleases, but lets it be known if he is not happy.
Barbara Streisand
This is Barbara Streisand. Barbra is aprox. 4 yrs old.
She came to us as a stray cat from Happy Valley.
Barbra loves to lounge around on her back. She is somewhat of a couch potato and a little bit bossy. Barbra is happiest when she is lounging on her back in a comfy spot. Only a chosen few are allowed to rub her soft curly tummy.
If you are one of the chosen, she is a loyal friend.
Neiman Marcus
This is Neiman Marcus.
We guess he's about 5-6 years old &
we believe he's a Lilac Point Siamese.
Neiman Marcus came to us from the West Linn area as a cat who was badly injured. It appeared from the deep puncture wounds in his side that he may have been carried in the mouth of a coyote.
He is very sweet and loving. Even through the cleaning and treatment of his wounds, he never once fussed at us. The wound was so raw and infected, it must have been painful no matter how careful we were.
Now that he is healed, he is quite a talker. Every night before I leave he comes to the window in the door next to my desk and talks to me. He is as sweet as he is beautiful.
Marmalade
This is Marmalade. She is our only cat named after a famous jam instead of a person.
She is around 8-10 yrs old and qualifies for our
“ELDER CARE”
program.
Marmalade is a sweet cat who loves attention, but has no problems letting you know if you have displeased her. I once took her out of her cubby to hold her, and she whipped around and hissed, then laid back down to resume her nap. It was obvious that I had rudely awakened her.
Simon Cowell
This is Simon Cowell and he is aprox. 3 yrs old. He came to us from the Dove Lewis Emergency clinic in downtown Portland. He was brought to them by a Good Samaritan as a stray.
Although we did not originally name him because he is opinionated, he has certainly lived up to his name. He either likes people or he doesn't and he is not afraid to let you know if you are not up to par. If he likes you, however, he tries to get up onto your shoulders so that he can go wherever you go. He has been known to leap several feet onto the shoulders of an unsuspecting chosen person.
Dixie Chicks
The Dixie Chicks (Dixie) is a 4 yr old very sweet female. She has a little crook in the end of her tail that she wiggles when she gets excited about someone loving her.
She is a cat who was taken to a vet clinic under the pretense of boarding her – then the owners disconnected their phone, canceled their credit card, and never returned to pick her up. She was left with one of her kittens, who has since been adopted.
Dixie is sweet to everyone and comes to the screen door almost every day to talk to me when I am in my office. She is very personable.
Kathryn Hepburn
This is Kathryn Hepburn. She is a 4 year old Himalayan Persian.
She spent the first four years of her life with her little elderly mother. The elderly woman's caretakers brought Kathryn to PAWS when the little woman could no longer care for her. Kathryn was well loved by her mother.
She is a quiet cat who likes a quiet place. She can most often be found snoozing in a remote litter box. She loves to be brushed and knows when she looks her best. She is a princess who is content to sit for hours in a quiet place while she is being loved.
She misses her elderly mother very much and longs to have another house to call home.
Meg Ryan
This is Meg Ryan. Meg is about 1 year old and her coloring is called dilute calico.
She was born to a woman who just could not get her cat in to be spayed, so her cat kept having kittens. When she moved she did not take her cats and left them to fend for themselves.
Meg is sweet, if a little shy. She did not get a lot of love and affection as a young kitten. She is a little unsure at first, but as soon as she knows that you are her friend, she can not get enough love.
Beatrix Potter
This is Beatrix Potter and she is a 3-5 year old Persian. As with a lot of cats used for show or breeding, Beatrix was cast aside when she was no longer deemed useful.
She has forgiven us for the way her humans neglected her. She is not demanding of our attention but craves the love she was denied for so long. Hold her and scratch her under her chin and she melts in your arms.
She loves everyone at PAWS, but there is no place like your own home.
J.K. Rowling
This is J.K. Rowling. We originally got J.K. almost two years ago.
I got a call from a man who had found a little mother with her six kittens closed up inside a van in the hot summer sun. She was hot and her kittens were drenched in sweat. She was glad to see us and did not fuss when we gathered up her little family and take them to safety. She was a great mom and seemed to thank us daily for coming to get her.
She was adopted from us and given as a companion to an elderly man with Alzheimer's. The man, who loved the attention J.K. showered upon him, could never figure out who the cat belonged to, or how she got in his house, and so she came back to PAWS.
She is a loyal friend, ever grateful to the humans who rescued her and her babies from that van on a hot summer day, and deserves a permanent place to call home.
Marlee Matlin
This is Marlee Matlin. She is 5-6 years old and is totally deaf. We think she may have been hit by a car in her youth, because she displays some symptoms of neurological damage.
Marlee lived with her elderly mother until she passed away. Marlee was willed to a granddaughter who immediately brought her to PAWS. Marlee is special in every sense of the word. Her eyes are very pale blue and green, are sensitive to the light, and weep requiring daily cleaning. Marlee’s neurological damage causes her to sometimes walk in circles and be a poor judge of distance. She can’t get enough love and attention; but will give you even more back in return.
She would make a very special companion to a loving home willing to give her a little extra TLC. She is a funny, happy cat.
Steven Tyler
This is Steven Tyler. He is a beautiful cat and is a bit of a loner as well.
Born to a feral mother, he was not shown much love as a kitten. He watches us all day, but does not feel comfortable being held. He is a good cat and deserves to have a good home of his own. He would prefer a home with other cats where he could be allowed to be himself and watch us his people from afar.
In time, with love and patience, he could learn to love and trust humans. But for now he prefers to admire us from afar.
Tony Danza
This is Tony Danza. He is 2 years old, and just a big teddy bear.
He was so scared when he showed up at the door of a PAWS board member that he was thought to be wild. On the contrary, he was just feeling frightened and alone.
Tony is a big cat, but likes to be carried around like a baby. He is actually somewhat of a couch potato.
Charlize Theron
This is Charlize Theron and she is about 4 years old.
She was injured when she came to us and required a feeding tube. It took weeks of TLC from a dedicated foster mom who cooked and pureed for her every day and made sure she got enough food thru her feeding tube.
Charlize is very loving and wants attention, but is polite and not demanding of it. She has been through a lot and deserves a good and loving home.
Catherine Zeta-Jones
This is Catherine Zeta-Jones; a spayed female who is aprox. 3 yrs old.
Catherine came to us from a very terrible and abusive home. She is happy just to be safe and warm. She spends most of her days in front of the mirror in the powder room. Catherine actually chooses to live in the powder room and graciously greets her guests as they enter. She is quite the socialite and always fashionable in her sleek black fur coat.
Teddy Roosevelt
This is Teddy Roosevelt. We think he's aprox. 7 years old; but it's hard to tell for sure when in as rough a shape as this sweet guy.
His burned whiskers are growing back slowly but surely, and the staining on his once pristine white fur is coming clean. It will take some time before he looks like the well loved cat he deserves to be.
We're glad that he cannot tell us the stories of cruelty shown him by humans in the past. He's so eager to give love to anyone who pauses to show him kindness. He was given a bath by the kind people at Wash and Roll. When they brought him back in, not only was his hair clean and soft, but he walked a good two or three inches taller.
He is going to make someone a very good companion.
Jay Leno
This is Jay Leno. He is about 1 year old.
Jay came to PAWS from a woman who had too many cats and had to give some up. He has a little neurological damage which gives him a cute little tilt to his head. He is feisty, playful, and almost as funny as his name sake.
He would entertain you for hours if you would only take him home.
Alfred Hitchcock
This is Alfred Hitchcock. Alfred and his best friend Tiger Woods
(below)
are both three years old.
Alfred and Tiger were brought to PAWS Animal Shelter by their dad after he had lost his job and home. They both have been well loved and miss their dad very much.
Often times, Alfred and Tiger can be found sleeping close together. Both of them are big couch potatoes and are eager to have another family to love and be loved by them.
Tiger Woods
This is Tiger Woods, a three year old tabby with white patches.
Tiger Woods and his best friend Alfred Hitchcock
(above)
were brought to PAWS Animal Shelter by their dad after he had lost his job and home. They are both big cats who have been well loved by their previous family.
Tiger and Alfred are eager to please and crave attention. They can usually be found curled up close to each other. I think it's hard for the cats that have been well loved to understand why their human is not with them any more and they miss their dad very much.
Tiger Woods and Alfred Hitchcock long to have another family of their own and should be adopted together.
Harrison Ford
Harrison Ford is a Main Coon.
His girlfriend, Halle Berry
(Not Pictured)
is a big Russian Blue.
He and Halle are guessed to be about two years old.
They were found by a vet in Clackamas; having been dumped by someone who just left them in a storage container on the doorstep.
Harrison is a big, sweet couch potato who loves nothing more than a good chin rub. Both of them work hard at the shelter holding down the furniture when they are not being loved by or playing with the volunteers and visitors.
George Clooney
This is George Clooney and the vet says that he is a year old.
George came to us from a domestic violence situation. The woman and her children sought shelter from the abuse and had to bring him to us.
George is a sweetie pie! He craves attention and is quick to give kisses. If I walk past him while he’s snuggled in his favorite box, he will reach out and tap me as I pass. He is loving and playful. Often times he can be seen romping through the shelter, chasing imaginary playmates, or taking his turn playing with the volunteers and his favorite toys.
It is easy to fall madly in love with George and his deep blue eyes.
